Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix
Always a sellout, the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix in picturesque Spa Francorchamps is one for the books. Taking place on one of Europe’s historic racetracks from 30 August until 1 September, the surrounds are elegant with their constellation of landmarks and beckoning scenery, with a host of five-star restaurants nearby. Belgium’s first national race was held here in 1925 and since then the association with motorsports continues to grow with strength.
Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps
Designed in 1920 by Jules de Thier and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps used public roads between the Belgian towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy, and Stavelot. It was the fastest road circuit in Europe for a time, with a reputation for being very dangerous. Now, it is possible to drive the course at one’s relative leisure, stopping along the way at world-class restaurants and to rest at five-star properties each night.
