Hosted in Park City, Utah, Sundance is an American film festival that brings together tens of thousands of attendees. It is the largest independent film festival in the United States. With the support of Chairman Robert Redford and Governor Scott M Matheson, the festival highlights American independent filmmaking and the state of Utah as a place to produce work.

This coming year the festival will run from January 19 to 29, 2017. This year’s promotional poster was inspired by Pablo Picasso’s photography series. Besides screening the top independent films we’ll be talking about for years to come, Sundance is also home to a series of Labs, grants, mentorships and workshops, allowing budding filmmakers to share their stories with the world.

Sundance Institute has supported many projects that have gone on to make a global impact including Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, Sin Nombre and The Invisible War.
