THE 7TH ANNUAL NEW YORK HARBOUR REGATTA & BASH
SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 | GOVERNORS ISLAND
Join the 7th Annual New York Harbour Regatta & Bash in support of the New York Harbour foundation and its two flagship initiatives – New York Harbour School and Billion Oyster Project (an ecosystem restoration and education project aimed at restoring one billion live oysters to New York Harbor by 2035 (today, oysters are functionally extinct in the Harbor).
A day spent sailing on the water of the iconic harbor and waterways, followed by a festive bash on historic Governors Island, is now an NYC tradition – for sailing enthusiasts and the community alike – to close the summer sailing season and to open the fall school year. Sailors compete to win the NY Harbour Cup and then join fellow revellers on Governors Island to celebrate a successful day on the water.
The festive evening bash will feature a DJ, open bar, oysters, and seasonal bites from local restaurants while the sun sets behind downtown Manhattan. Before the bash, guests can watch the Regatta from a spectator cocktail cruise aboard the Manhattan II, a 100-foot long yacht with an all-glass observatory, intimate tables, and well-appointed bar. VIPs can board the Mariner III to taste food from a guest chef and experience live music while they view the race.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the New York Harbour Foundation, which supports programming for the students of New York Harbour School, NYC’s only public maritime high school with a student body that represents all five boroughs.
