The Royal Windsor Horse Show is an annual event celebrating all things equestrian, which takes place from 11-14 May this year. The event is hosted on the private grounds of Windsor Castle and features a wide range of competitions and demonstrations, including dressage, show jumping, and carriage driving.
The event has been awarded CHI status by the FEI, making it one of the most prestigious shows in the equestrian calendar. Alongside the international competition, visitors can enjoy displays from The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, The Land Rover Shetland Pony Grand National, DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games, and more.
The showground has five arenas, an extensive Shopping Village, and a Food Court. Visitors can browse trade stands selling equestrian, country, and luxury products and enjoy a wide range of food outlets. With world-class sporting action, thrilling displays, and plenty to do, the Royal Windsor Horse Show is a fantastic day out.
The novice classes hold particular prominence, and winning the novices at Royal Windsor signals that a young horse has exciting potential for the future. There is also a qualifier for the BSPS mountain and moorland Heritage supreme championship and a native in-hand supreme final for the 12 breed champions in the Castle Arena.
The history of the Royal Windsor Horse Show dates back to 1943, when it was first staged to help raise funds for the war efforts. The late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and other members of the Royal Family have attended the show over the years.
