“There are few things more pure and beautiful than nature, so that was our starting point, layering various iterations of organic forms with technology. Our aim was to create an all-enveloping magical experience that celebrates our enormous respect for tradition while recognising our excitement about the future and things to come.” – Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson

Annually Claridge’s comes together with top designers for the legendary hotel’s lobby in the form of a Christmas tree. The hotel has become so renowned for this Yuletide tradition, the very best from the fashion have come forward to offer their services. Years past have seen the likes of Burberry-, Dolce & Gabbana- and Lanvin-designed trees. This year Claridge’s is taking a departure from traditional designers and has selected Sir Jony Ive, Chief Design Officer at Apple and Marc Newson, a world-renowned industrial designer. Both are long-time friends of the hotel.

Also unique to this year, the collaboration is so much more than a tree. It’s an entire installation featuring four-metre high light-boxes that glow black and white photographic images of snow covered silver birch trees. For additional dimension, rise cast models of Scots pine are layered on a backdrop of silver birch and fir trees offering a canopy effect.

In its seventh year, the collaboration is without a doubt a destination and it must be seen to be believed. For more information about Claridge’s including reservations and afternoon tea bookings, please contact your Insignia Personal Assistant.
